We all get them. Before fixing my portions and removing junk food from my life, I used to crave salty snacks ALL. THE. TIME.
I could easily eat any sized bag of chips, mindlessly, by the handfuls.
It wasn’t until end of February when I got a piece of chip stuck in the roof of my mouth that I took a second to realize, wait, maybe my food is controlling me.
Now, today, after two WHOLE months of eating good for me and tastes good food, I am craving sweets hardcore. I know why.
It’s been an emotionally intense few days. My hormones are very active right now, AND there’s a full moon tomorrow/the next day.
I’m A BIT JACKED UP and tired. Can you relate?
I was on my way to the fridge to find a snack when my good habits stopped me.
“Um, Cheryl, you’re doing timed nutrition for your hemoglobin production right now. It’s not snack time. When it is snack time, you’re having veggies, protein, a carb, and a healthy fat”.
So I said to self, “Um, self. SHUT UP. I want chocolate or cookies or something.”
We don’t have any of those things.
“How about some iced David’s Tea. You just got the new steeper in the mail.”
So I brewed the tea begrudgingly, as IF a herbal tea could curb my sweet tooth. I’m hungry, right?
WRONG. Took two big sips and I’m right as rain.
What are your cravings?
How do you work through it?
Have you tried the strategy of talking to your old self like I have?
What do you do to be in control of your food instead of your food being in control of you?
